OfstedOfsted reports invariably acknowledge the important role that nurture groups play in the life of a school. They refer not only to the progress made by children in the groups but also to the wider benefits they bring to the whole school community. The positive impact they make on behaviour, attendance, attainments and parental involvement are frequently mentioned. A recent Ofsted inspection at Holbrook Primary School in Gosport, Hampshire commented; "pupils with learning difficulties and disabilities relating to emotional and physical needs make satisfactory progress because of the support they receive from learning support assistants and the outstanding nurture class....The work in the nurture group is exceptional and has a very positive impact on pupils’ capacity to learn and their self-confidence." We would like to provide other references to Ofsted reports that mention nurture groups. If your school and nurture group have been inspected, please do let us know by emailing info@nurturegroups.org
